Peter Pater [mixed media installation, mechanism and digital projection],
Wendy Leah Dawson, Llawn02 - Haus of Helfa, 2014.
A watchmaker works in the attic of a building, always by the window like a spider, almost motionless as time slips by. He is near the light to save his eyes, and the years go by like seconds as he works, contemplating the machines that measure time.
Peter Pater references my father's influence as a maker, a craftsman and thinker, both in concept and construction. It was made in response to Dad Da Daa by Gareth Griffith, and constructed as a site specific installation in an attic window, where watchmakers are always found.
